Emerging for 2017: Words On The Fringe (Geraldine Wharry)

Embroidery as a traditional craft offers an artful and tactile way of conveying bold graphic messages through lettering and geometric abstract shapes.

We've seen a renewed interest in highlighting the unfinished. When an embroidery or sewing machine line ends with loose threads it is left uncut and exposed for its raw beauty.  

New delicate fringe effects are created, extending into thin air strong statements and logos. This surface treatment is also coming through with polkadot patterns coming off the surface.
