Vetements adds to team and publishes second book

Vetements is riding triumphant, has expanded its team and is now in the news after the publication of its second book. The ready-to-wear label led by Demna Gvasalia, also the Creative Director of Balenciaga, has hired Nina Nitsche as collection director.

Vetements Summercamp - Pierre-Ange Carlotti

Nitsche worked for nearly 20 years alongside Martin Margiela, before leaving the fashion label in 2012.

Other appointments are expected to bolster the Vetements dream team which, alongside Demna Gvasalia and his younger brother Guram, the CEO, includes several personalities such as Russian designer Lotta Volkova, photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti, DJ Clara Deshayes (Clara 3000) and model Paul Hameline.

The label, well-known for its oversize cuts and streetwear inspiration, did now show at the recent Paris Fashion Week. This season it actually moved its presentation ahead in the fashion calendar, staging a show last July during the haute couture week.

Nevertheless, the label made the headlines by organising a major party on Monday 3rd October at the Comme des Garçons Trading Museum, to mark the launch of its second volume: 'Vetements Summercamp'.

Vetements' first lookbook, with pictures by Pierre-Ange Carlotti, was presented last January and was sold out in a few hours. The new book is expected to enjoy the same success.

The book, once again published by Idea with photos by Pierre-Ange Carlotti, focuses on the Spring/Summer 2017 collection. Carlotti used all of his quirky, amusing flair to portray the Vetements gang in full swing, seemingly the day after a boozy party, in a château in northern France.

Comprising 480 pages, 'Vetements Summercamp' is more extensive than the first book. It went on sale  October 4th, priced at €50, at a selection of stores including 10 Corso Como in Milan, Daikanyama T-Site in Tokyo, MiniShop Madrid, The Store Berlin and on the 'ideanow' website.
