Valentino stages major exhibition in Doha

Published
Nov 4, 2022

Maison Valentino has opened a major exhibition of the house’s work. Called Forever — Valentino, it runs until 1 April next year in Doha, Qatar at design and innovation hub M7.

Valentino

Six decades of the label’s history unfold “in a panoramic scenography” brought together by Qatar Creates, Qatar Museums and the company itself.

The “theatrical experience” is the label’s first showcase in the Middle East and the largest to date anywhere.

It takes in the earliest visions of house founder Valentino Garavani up to the contemporary designs of Pierpaolo Piccioli, who terms the event, a "Perspective" on the house.

Altogether there are 260 pieces in the “immersive experiential journey, guided in and out of a reimagined version of Rome”.

It’s likely to prove a big draw. Valentino’s prices may be out of reach of many fashion fans, but the label is still hugely influential at present, defying the belief that couture can no longer impact mainstream fashion.

Piccioli’s current pink-focused collection, for instance, has summed up the mood for intense colour perfectly. And colour — as well as superlative cutting — is very much on show at this exhibition.
