Tictail opens holiday pop-up in New York City

Global online fashion and lifestyle community Tictail on Friday opened the doors to its New York City holiday pop-up shop on 90 Orchard Street in the Lower East Side.

Tictail has returned to New York City to repeat the success of its holiday pop-up in 2014. Several independent fashion and home design brands that are part of the Tictail community have made their products available in store, including New York brands Daniel Dugoff, Wray Collection and Arc Objects, Parisian brands Mamama and Furious Shop and Stockholm-based brands Mes Dames, Deadwood and Santosh.
 
“The majority of products on Tictail and in the Tictail Market Pop Up are one-of-a-kind and exclusive,” said Carl Waldekranz, Tictail CEO and co-founder. “Most of the Paris and Stockholm brands for sale in the Tictail New York pop-up shop, for example, are not available for purchase at any other brick-and-mortar location in New York. New York exudes creativity and talent. It has been an incredible community for us to dip our feet into and really be able to today call home. We're in awe of the amazing independent brands coming out of New York, and we wanted to be sure to create a local hub for creativity and community.”

The Swedish company has applied what it has learned from the first pop-up to this year’s edition. The pop-up features “Brand Walls” that have brand bio cards for each of the 40 brands sold in-store. Each card details the designer as well as the story behind each brand.

Waldekranz explained, “We learned that shoppers really care about the stories behind a brand. Shoppers would walk into our shop and become fascinated by the origins of a product: what country is it from, who the the designer is, what the inspiration of the collection was. People loved hearing about how a product was conceptualized and designed, and what meaning it held to the designers.”
 
Events have been planned for the pop-up this year as well. New York designers Tim Goodman and Wasted Rita will sell limited edition collaboration prints at the shop, and 13 artists will host a “Getting Wrapped” party where they will sell wrapping paper that they have designer.
 
Tictail will open holiday pop-up stores in Paris and Stockholm this month on December 10 and December 14, respectively. Each store will be open in congruence throughout the month.
