The View trade show sees successful first edition

While the established players of the Parisian menswear’s fashion fairs, such as Man and Welcome Editions, had to throw in the towel this January session, the View held its first physical trade show in the Ecole Duperré (located in the third arrondissement of the French capital) from January 21 to 24.

Entrance to the View show - View

This new initiative of the newcomer, which had already been showcased online since 2020, turned out a success. The presentation saw about 30 brands displayed, mostly French brands such as Aigle, Wolbe, Misericordia, North Hill and Jaqk, but also offering international brands such as Ron Dorff, Fila, Hènope bags, Umoja sneakers, or Loreak Mendian. Others included Kleman, Kost and Penfield.

Much like the Tranoï trade show (a dynamic fair which saw 30 designer brands displayed at the Palais de Tokyo) the coherent exhibition was hosted in a small space but was still able to see buyers from department stores, buying offices representing international players, and some French multi-brand retailers.

“On Friday, I had about ten appointments, followed by another ten on Monday," explained Hugo Levrier, sales manager for the brand, Avnier. “The buyers also seem very happy to be able to meet with us."

Pierre-Yves Bomey, CEO of Jagvi, was also present, noticing the strong presence of buyers from department stores, retailers and the press.

“This was our first show after having launched our brand six years ago, and it allowed us to get in touch with retailers that didn't know who we were," commented Pierre-Yves Oriol, founder of the brand Tonton et Fils, which offers functional, 'made in France' clothing. He was still in touch with retailers in the west of France even as the show came to an end.

The overall outcome was positive for this first edition. "In a show, there is usually always a quiet day,” admitted Hervé Hucher, organizer of the show. “For us, it was Sunday. But we had a good amount of visitors on Friday and Monday."

Located near the Carreau du Temple, the show certainly benefited from the proximity of several showrooms located around the neighborhood such as those of Robert Dodd (Cp Company, K-Way), The Clothette (Knowledge Cotton Apparel, Thinking Mu, Norse Project) or Talk Studio (Arte, Daily Paper, The New Originals), which also experienced a busy week of meeting with buyers.

View should once again consolidate its presence in menswear in the Duperré school location next season, as well as try to expand and utilize additional classrooms. They should even take advantage of the playground space.
