While The Brandery, the trade show for young and urban fashion in Barcelona, prepares for its January edition (slated to run from the 27th to the 29th), the Fair of Barcelona has just announced the launch of a trade show in Asia, namely – in Singapore, to be held from the 17th to the 20th of next May.

The Brandery Asia is the fruit of a joint-venture between the Fair of Barcelona and MP International, an umbrella organization that puts on trade fairs, conferences, and the like. It is already responsible for a small trade show in Singapore called Blueprint, which will bring together over forty up and coming designers, mostly hailing from Asia (Singapore, Thailand, Korea, etc.) as well as a few Western ones.

In may of 2012, the two fairs will be held on the same dates. Their objective is to attract, via The Brandery Asia and the hundred or so exhibitors expected, an approximate number of 5,000 visitors and 250 invited buyers from across the region. The event is supported by the government of Singapore, which intends to make the country an important fashion hub in Asia. For its part – the Fair of Barcelona is piloting other international projects such as a Mediterranean food fair in Singapore, a Consumatec show in Beijing and a pavillion in a hospitality trade show in Shanghai.
