Tennis star Naomi Osaka is the newest ambassador at BareMinerals

Tennis champion Naomi Osaka has scored a major off-court win with BareMinerals.

The Grand Slam star has been unveiled as the beauty brand's new ‘Power of Good Ambassador.'

Osaka, who is of Japanese and Haitian heritage and is the first Asian player to be ranked No.1 in singles, will serve as the face of the label's signature ‘BarePro Performance Wear Foundation.' The cruelty-free product promises to provide all-day coverage that improves the appearance of the skin's texture with use. Her debut campaign, which was shot by the photographer Zoey Grossman in Los Angeles, showcases her natural beauty, both on and off the court.

"To me, The Power of Good means being the best version of yourself without sacrificing integrity or putting others down," said 21-year-old Osaka in a statement.

"We chose Naomi not only because of her extraordinary athletic abilities and unmistakable passion for her craft, but also for the confidence, poise and perseverance she demonstrates on and off the court," added Jill Scalamandre, President, BareMinerals.

Osaka is in good company with her new venture -- additional BareMinerals ambassadors include supermodels Hailey Bieber and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, as well as the actress Letitia Wright. She is also the latest in a string of athletes to secure major beauty contracts, following in the footsteps of sportswomen such as dancer Misty Copeland, who was first unveiled as an ambassador for Estée Lauder in 2017, and the Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez, who was snapped up by Procter & Gamble's online Latina community Crest and Orgullosa back in 2016.
