The British designer's eponymous fashion empire has renewed its partnership with the sustainable company, which focuses on giving luxury items a second life through resale and avoiding them going to landfill.

Shoppers buying Stella McCartney pieces through the secondhand retailer will be rewarded with $100 in store credit to use at Stella retail stores or online.

"Moving from reducing our negative environmental impact to making a positive impact requires all of us to change our mindset and leverage solutions that will make fashion circular and eliminate waste," said McCartney in a statement. "The partnership with The RealReal created an easy and impactful solution for our customers to participate in a circular economy. We look forward to growing the partnership in 2019."

The RealReal specializes in re-selling genuine, verified luxury items from brands ranging from Gucci to Cartier, and operates in 10 retail locations across the US. But the collaboration with the circular economy-focused brand is not the only way McCartney is making an effort to lessen the environmental impact of her business: earlier this month, she helped launch a 'United Nations fashion industry charter' in Poland that makes the business case for sustainable fashion, and has seen 43 fashion businesses -- including Burberry, Hugo Boss and H&M -- sign up to the initiative.
