The sophistication and drama of Spanish brand Palomo Spain meets the sporty savoir-faire of Puma in a genderless collection inspired by the flamboyant off-field lifestyle of 1970s soccer stars.

"My goal with this collaboration was to bring our over-the-top vibes over to Puma while stepping out of my comfort zone by designing sportswear. That's what led me to subtly reference Johan Cruyff, the ultimate 1970s soccer icon who is also the perfect embodiment of the Palomo Spain aesthetic in sports," said Cordoba-born designer Alejandro Gómez Palomo, founder of Palomo Spain, in a statement.

"It has been wonderful to partner with a company that has the means and engineering necessary to work on things in a way that I can't in my studio and my atelier, as that is what has allowed me to approach the collection in a much more technical way than usual," he explained.

The collection consists of 15 garments, including a tracksuit featuring the Puma x Palomo Spain logo, a polo shirt combining embroidery and jacquard, a nylon coat, and nylon shorts paired with sleeveless T-shirts.

"The crossover between craftsmanship and technology is an interesting one as it's not obvious at all; yet a highly technical production process was necessary to create the intricate embroideries and detailing that are Palomo's trademark on a Puma scale. These delicate graphic elements elevate the collection and bring the right balance to a classic, clean silhouettes," said Heiko Desens, Puma's global creative director.

The casual garments that border between masculine and feminine all possess a sexy and youthful spirit. The collection's color palette ranges from timeless colors such as beige, white and pale blue, to more daring shades like navy blue, burgundy and bright yellow.

"Palomo Spain's take on fashion is always warm and welcoming, whether through his choice of colors, materials or references. The joyful spirit of his brand instantly struck a chord with us, and his sense of rebelliousness, defiance of stereotypes and celebration of self-expression that characterizes him is also what Puma stands for," said Desens.

Puma's Weekend sneaker has also been reinterpreted for this line, as well as its Nitefox loafer. In addition, the range is accompanied by accessories such as the two-tone Grip bag, the burgundy Crossbody clutch, an embroidered cap and a printed satin scarf.

The Puma x Palomo Spain collection will be available from this Saturday in the sports brand's online store, select Puma stores worldwide and on the Spanish designer's website, with prices ranging from 40 to 450 euros.

Palomo, born in the city of Posadas, in Córdoba, where he currently has his atelier, completed his studies at the London College of Fashion. The designer has presented his collections at New York Men's Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week and Madrid Fashion Week, among other venues. In 2018, he was crowned the winner of Vogue's fashion awards Who's On Next and participated in the 2022 edition of the LVMH Prize. Palomo Spain has been seen worn by celebrities such as Beyoncé, Harry Styles, Rita Ora and Miley Cyrus.

The Puma group currently owns the Puma, Cobra Golf and Stichd brands, operates in more than 120 countries and employs more than 16,000 people worldwide. In the second quarter of this year, Puma exceeded the €2 billion mark in sales, equivalent to 18% growth.
