Parsons and Project announce SS19 "Next in Class" selections

Published

The New School's Parsons School of Design and fashion trade show Project have announced their list of designers for the SS19 edition of their "Next in Class" program to give wholesale exposure to a select group of recent MFA and BFA graduates from the school.

The program, which is in its 4th year, is designed to introduce new talent to the retail marketplace and support the growth of their emerging brands. Designers selected this year are Nihl, Ru Jin Tsai, Anne Li, and Jeongmin Cho.

Nihl pushes the boundaries of traditional menswear by exploring what it means to be male. Ru Jin Tsai, a designer of both men's and womenswear, focuses on the relationship between manufacturers and the conflict between makers and wearers.

Anne Li's collection centers around bicultural confusion and the idea of shaping one's individual look out of distinct traditional aesthetics. Jeongmin Cho's collection is a genderless line inspired by the designer's identity as a twin juxtaposed against that of her twin brother.

"Parsons is proud of the four designers who have been selected to showcase their unique and innovative designs at Project this year. These designers represent the future of the fashion industry, and I'm thrilled they are being given the opportunity to expand their brands," shares Burak Cakmak, Dean of Fashion at Parsons, in a release.

The Next in Class Parsons designers will have the opportunity to present their collections to luxury retailers, buyers, and e-commerce vendors while gaining exposure to the wholesale marketplace at Project.

Project NY takes place Sunday July 22 through Tuesday July 24 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City.
