Michael Maccari is leaving his position as creative director of the fashion label Perry Ellis.

The US designer is set to stand down from his role to "pursue other opportunities," WWD reports. He has held the position at the sportswear-inspired brand since 2013.

"I am grateful for Michael's dedication to Perry Ellis throughout the last six years," Jason Zuckerman, president of Perry Ellis and Original Penguin, told WWD. "His work in driving the brand's creative vision will leave an indelible mark, and we wish him the best as he embarks on new endeavors."

Maccari's replacement at Perry Ellis has not yet been named.

Perry Ellis has recently been focusing on its retro appeal, with a 'Perry Ellis America' capsule collection that nods to the brand's history. The collection, which has launched in three different drops so far, pays homage to the sub-label of the same name that the brand first launched in 1984 with Levi's, and comprises archival pieces as well as reissued and updated interpretations of original designs.

Maccari is not the only high-profile creative to leave his post this season -- in September, the fashion designer Demna Gvasalia announced he was quitting his role at Vetements, the Zurich-based streetwear label he co-founded with his brother Guram Gvasalia.
