Menswear trade shows kick off this Friday in Paris

Published
Jan 16, 2013

Menswear brands are flocking to Paris this weekend for the Man and Capsule trade shows that start on Friday 18 January, followed by Tranoï which starts on Saturday. Tranoï Homme claims that this edition of the show will be more forward thinking than what we have previously seen from them. Taking place between 19 and 21 January at the Palais Brogniart in Paris, Tranoï Homme will welcome 150 exhibitors. In an attempt to adapt to market changes, the show is putting on a free shuttle bus service to take buyers from la Bourse and le Carrousel du Louvre where the first edition of Tranoï Preview is being held. Tranoï Homme is also introducing a new “Young Talent” section this year that showcases the fashion hopefuls of tomorrow.

In order to show the public the multiple facets of its activity, the trade show - run by Armand Hadida - has invited six beauty brands to appear at the show, including New York-brand Odin and les Liquids Imaginaries. Several new Scandinavian brands will also be present, including Swedish brand Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair and Saint-Paul, a young Belgian brand to watch, who is showing for the second time in Paris.

In the Marais, Man will be holding its third edition of the show at a small space on rue Froissart. By expanding to the second floor, the trade show created by Antoine Floch (ex-Rendez-Vous), Olivier Migda and Romain Bernardie James is able to welcome 35 brands this time around for its show taking place between 18 and 20 January. Amongst new brands to the show are Levi’s Vintage Clothing, Made & Crafted, Homecore, Maison Lebiche, Swedish brand Velour and Brit brand Hentsch Man. 15 brands will show at the American arm of the show, Man New York, which will take place between 22 and 24 January.

At the Cité de la Mode et du Design (18 and 20 January), Capsule is back for its second edition. The American ‘Heritage’ show will showcase some 200 brands. Amongst there are the familiar faces of Yuketen, Maharishi, Penfield, and Twothirds. New arrivals include Brit Katy Eary, formal sportswear brand William Fox & Sons and Japanese sock brand Majestic Japan. Vanishing Elephant from Australia will be making a come-back as well as Opening Ceremony shoes and Rocky Mountain Featherbed.

In terms of logistics, Capsule has organized for shuttle buses to run between la Bourse and the Marais (78 rue Vieille du Temple). Copies of Capsule’s magazine (Capsule Paper) and cocktails will be available at the show and the organizers are hosting events at Favela Chic and Pompom on Friday and Saturday evening respectively.
