Marie Schneier departs French fashion federation

Published

Marie Schneier is to leave her position as head of communications and corporate branding for the Federation de la Haute Couture et de la Mode.

The bilingual Schneier quits the Federation, which controls all the six annual fashion weeks of Paris, after a busy half decade at the job in a surprise move.

“As of this day and after five years of enriching collaboration, for which I especially wanted to thank you, I no longer occupy my functions within the Federation to move towards new horizons,” Schneier, a popular figure in Paris fashion circles, revealed in an email entitled New Departure.

“I will continue to follow certain institutional files, which will allow me to update you from time to time, and I look forward to it,” she added.

Her departure comes one day after the Federation, high fashion’s governing body in France, revealed its provisional calendar for the next Paris Fashion Week, with an impressive 92 houses due to present collections and 37 live catwalk shows from September 27, to October 5.

Schneier arrived at the Federation following the appointment of Ralph Toledano as president and Pascal Morand as executive president of the organization, ushering in a period of rapid change which has seen a radical upgrade in its online platform and Paris reinforce its position as primus inter pares among the quarter of four great fashion capitals along with London, Milan and New York.

No successor has been named so far, and the Federation has begun the search for a replacement.

“Marie did an excellent job at the Federation in a period of rapid transition. We are very happy that she will keep working with us on some special projects, and we wish her every success in her new ventures,” said Morand.

Schneier reported to Guillaume Robin, the Federation’s development, communication and events director. Looking ahead, Schneier said she planned to find more related to high-end branding and sustainability, possibly in HR or helping to develop young talent.

“I loved working with Pascal and Ralph and having the chance to talk to people of such high caliber. It was a super enriching experience to evolve in a structure that is changing and pushing forward all the time. Now it is time to give back. I am 48 today, and a mum of young daughter, so it’s the right time to change,” Schneier told FashionNetwork.com.
