Manolo Blahnik to open Burlington Arcade men's boutique

Published
Jul 4, 2018

Luxury shoemaker Manolo Blahnik is opening his first men’s store this week with a debut in Burlington Arcade on Friday.

Burlington Arcade will welcome a new Manolo Blahnik men's store extension this week

The Arcade, which recently changed hands following major refurbishment spending by its previous owners, has turned from a home to traditional luxury retailers and jewellers in recent years to become a key luxury fashion destination in central London.

The 411 sq ft new men’s store (which Blahnik describes as “tiny but fabulous”) opens on Friday and is actually an extension of his existing women’s store in the Arcade.

It feature his menswear offer that includes colourful, hand-stitched pieces including basketweave loafers, desert boots, car shoes, Chelsea boots and suede brogues, as well as a few more classic looks.

However, despite the current trend for upscale trainers, that’s something that Blahnik won’t be selling as he said in an interview with The Evening Standard that they’re “horrible things”.

Blahnik is best known for his ultra-luxury women’s shoes, which became almost a household name courtesy of the Sex and the City TV show in the 1990s. And it will be interesting to see how he matches the high-profile, colourful aesthetic of the women’s offer with his new men’s line which, until Friday at least, is still under wraps.
