Mango opens three UK stores at key malls

Published

Mango its boosting its UK presence with three major new stores. It has just opened at Bluewater in Kent, as well as being about to debut at Battersea Power Station and having plans to open in Newcastle next month.

The imminent debut in Battersea comes as part of the grand opening of that major retail project this Friday. It also sees a large number of high-end-to-mass-market UK and international names unveiling flagships there.

Mango’s store has a selling space of over 300 square metres and will stock the Woman collection. It will generate more than 15 new jobs and will be one of the first in the UK to feature the new Mediterranean-inspired concept, New Med, already present in some of the group’s flagship stores around the world.

The Battersea opening follows the Bluewater debut that has just happened with Mango in a prime spot very close to the high-traffic Apple store. The company previously had a large store at the mall but closed it several years ago.

The third of the new stores will open in Newcastle’s Eldon Square shopping centre during November.

Global Expansion Director Daniel Lopez said: “The opening of these three stores is part of the expansion plan we are promoting to consolidate our brand in the country and a step forward in our strategic goals for international expansion and our distribution ecosystem. The United Kingdom is a key market for Mango and one of the most important for the fashion industry in the world, and we want Mango to have a significant presence in it.”

The openings bring Mango’s total to almost 50 UK stores by the end of 2022, combining its physical presence in shopping centres with standalone stores and corners in department stores.

Mango has been in the UK since 1998 and last year strengthened its presence in the country with the opening of a new flagship on London’s Oxford Street, and three other stores in Manchester, Edinburgh and Derby. It also opened nine concessions with the John Lewis Partnership across the UK, 10 wholesale concessions with Shaws in Ireland and four wholesale concessions in London with Morleys Brixton. This year it also opened in Glasgow Fort shopping centre.
