Le New Black begins its second season

Published
Feb 15, 2010

Founded in June 2009, Le New black saw very positive results in its first season. The virtual trade show, which “lasts for six months rather than the three days of a traditional trade show”, hosted around fifty international brands and more than 800 buyers, including representatives from Selfridges, Barneys, Joyce and Printemps.

For the spring-summer 2010 season, 226 pre-orders have already been taken, totalling around half a million euros. Le New Black’s second season the online platform, founded by Surface to Air – also behind the Rendez-Vous event, should also welcome around fifty fashion labels. “We already have around fifty which are exhibiting. But we will pass the fifty mark. Our season lasts for six months with a peak from January to April,” said Vidya Narine, director of Le New Black.

Christophe Lemaire, Heimstone, Veja, Alice Hubert, Kulte and Surface to Air have already opened their stands. As regards support agencies and federations, Vidya Narine is still to explain fully the scope of this trade show which is not truly held in France, but that conducts its operations on the global stage. In the meantime, Le New Black has teamed up with Fashion Fringe for an award, that will arrange a stand for two seasons; the first of which will be taken over by Jena Theo, who distinguished herself during the 2009 edition.
