Koché turns AC Milan soccer jerseys into a couture collection

The Koché brand has teamed up with the Italian soccer club AC Milan and Puma for a capsule collection based on upcycling. The Rossoneri's unsold jerseys are transformed for the occasion into couture pieces, ranging from T-shirts to denim jackets and dresses. The collection is slated to land February 28, marking the launch of Paris Fashion Week.

Founder of the Koché label, Christelle Kocher, seems to have an ongoing love affair with soccer. After collaborating with Paris Saint-Germain, the designer has partnered with another capital of fashion and soccer -- Milan -- for an entirely upcycled collection. Surplus AC Milan jerseys are here combined with prints and denim to create a set of couture pieces, in the aim of giving them a new lease of life off the soccer pitch.

Fewer than 10 pieces comprise this capsule collection that the brand already features on its e-store. There are T-shirts, shorts, a denim jacket, pants and two dresses in different lengths. All items are customized with the famous red-and-black stripes of the Italian soccer club.

Familiar with upcycling long before the practice went mainstream in the fashion industry, Christelle Kocher has a habit of using surplus fabrics and other accessories and transforming them into fashion creations. For this collection, AC Milan jerseys are combined with fabric scraps from her own label, allowing her to ally creativity with responsible fashion, while giving a second life to garments that would otherwise not have been used.

The fruit of this collaboration will be offered in a (very) limited edition, landing February 28.
