Jacquemus takes first steps into childrenswear with capsule collection

Jacquemus is preparing to add to its product range. While about to launch a cosmetics line, Simon Porte Jacquemus is testing out the childrenswear market. He is doing it in tongue-in-cheek fashion, dropping the Pink 2 line, centred around his obsession for the colour pink. As he did last year with Pink 1, the French designer has created a series of items for the year-end festivities, all of them in pink, in collaboration with artists, designers and other labels. Among the items, also a childrenswear capsule collection designed by Jacquemus himself, a first for the label.

The collection, which is set to extend in future, consists for the time being of three essentials, all duly sporting the Jacquemus logo, available in pink or beige: a hoodie (priced €135), a t-shirt and a bob hat (€60). They are available from Tuesday exclusively on Jacquemus’s e-shop, as are the other items of Pink 2. The clothes are designed for children aged 3 to 10.

To showcase the drop, fashion stylist Morgane Camille Nicolas playfully combined, in a fun, attractive and convincing mix, the childrenswear items with some of Jacquemus’s creations for adults. Enough to spark interest in a Jacquemus Kids line, which already seems to be able to earn a credible place within the Parisian label’s collections.

Diversifying into childrenswear is part of the logical development process for an emerging label, as shown by Marine Serre’s recent foray into this territory. The French designer has commercialised her first ‘Miniature’ collection, for the Fall/Winter 2021-22, via e-tailer Ssense. The collection is targeted to children aged 4–10, and includes t-shirts in organic cotton, leggings and fitted tops printed with the label’s signature half-moon motifs, and patchwork dresses that replicate, in miniature, some of Marine Serre’s classic wardrobe items.
