Jacquemus appoints Bastien Daguzan as CEO

Jacquemus is starting a new chapter by appointing a CEO from outside the company for the first time. Until now, the Paris-based fashion house was led by its founder and creative director Simon Porte Jacquemus. The company has now appointed Bastien Daguzan, who has been at the helm of Paco Rabanne Mode for the past five years as CEO.

The 38-year-old manager left Paco Rabanne in April, where he was succeeded by Nadia Dhouib. Originating from the southwest of France, he studied international business law at La Sorbonne in Paris. He then specialized in design and luxury at the Institut Français de la Mode. He began his career in fashion in 2008 at Kris Van Assche, where he served as sales and development director for five years.

In 2013, he became managing director at Lemaire, where he worked closely with creative directors Christophe Lemaire and Sarah Linh Tran. He particularly promoted the brand's collaboration with Uniqlo, which led to the Japanese giant Fast Retailing acquiring a minority stake in the label, which grew from €2 million to €10 million in a span of three years (2015-2017).

In March 2017, Daguzan took over as head of Paco Rabanne's fashion division, where he worked alongside artistic director Julien Dossena to reposition the brand and steer it towards direct-to-consumer distribution. According to the press release, he generated triple-digit growth for the company and increased the number of multi-brand retailers fourfold, while actively participating in the launch of the first Pacollection perfume line.

This is clearly a strategic appointment for Jacquemus to give the ever-growing company a better structure and prepare it to further accelerate its development. In recent months, the house has launched numerous projects, from its latest fashion show in Hawaii to its vending machine pop-up stores and the upcoming launch of its collaboration with Nike. The brand is also planning to launch a beauty line to be developed by the Spain's Puig Group, owner of Paco Rabanne, among other brands.

Porte Jacquemus hails from Provence and founded his brand in 2009 at the age of 19. Since then, he has enjoyed unprecedented success with his cheerful and colorful designs, with some accessories - such as his famous mini bags and giant straw hats - enjoying particular popularity.

The brand, which counts Rihanna and the Hadid sisters among its customers, has more than 4.6 million followers on Instagram and employs around 100 people with a turnover of around 25 million euros. Its products range from women's and men's ready-to-wear to accessories including bags, shoes, eyewear, hats, and jewelry.
