Giorgio Armani: another record year in 2014

Published
May 29, 2015

At 80 years old and having just celebrated the 40th anniversary of his label, Giorgio Armani has never been in better shape. His fashion house ended 2014 with a revenue of €2.5 billion and a very enviable double-digit increase in sales, namely 16%. Its total sales, including licenses, stands at €3.7 billion, according to the data published by the Italian giant.

In 2014, the company's EBITDA grew 5.7% compared with the previous year to €507 million, accounting for 20% of revenue (compared to 18.3% in 2013).

"The excellent results obtained in 2014 once again prove that my group is able to confirm its position as a leader in the fashion industry as well as its status as a veritable point of reference on an international level," said the designer in a press release.

"These results are thanks to diversification policy applied at our retailers, with each one of them having proven that they are perfectly capable of meeting their potential in terms of the targeted clientele," he continued, while also citing "an extremely clear and balanced industrial strategy focused on the creation of solid and long-term value."

Growth was seen across the board, but particularly in the homewear line, Armani/Casa (+20%), and the haute couture collection Armani Privé (+30%), specified the group without providing any further details on the other brands.

The house also said that its best-performing markets were Asia and the Middle East.

Despite the heavy investments it made in 2014, amounting to 170 million euros compared to 100 million a year before, the group still has a very solid treasury in liquidity, more than 500 million euros, which allows it to finance the development of its brands and strengthen its position on the markets in an independent manner, emphasised the company.

Armani Group, which employs 10,500 people and has 12 factories, has a distribution network of 2,704 points of sale in more than 60 countries around the world: 166 Giorgio Armani stores, 324 Emporio Armani, 634 Armani Collezioni, 276 A/X Armani Exchange, 779 AJ | Armani Jeans, 170 Armani Junior and 55 Armani/Casa.
