After recently acquiring high-end furniture brand Zanotta, Italian premium furniture and design brand Cassina has opened in Los Angeles its largest store worldwide. The 1,200 square-metre store on two levels is located in the heart of West Hollywood, on North Robertson Boulevard.

In a press release, Cassina defined the opening “a decisive milestone,” also for the impact it will have on the sector in the region. Opening the new store “would not have been possible without DIVA Group, with which we have enjoyed a solid relationship for the last 15 years,” thanks to its portfolio of European contemporary luxury design brands, said Luca Fuso, CEO of Cassina, in the press release.

“We are delighted to be involved in the new store and to use it as a base for further growth in the Los Angeles market,” stated the founders of DIVA, Stephanie De Oliveira and Philippe Rousselin. “Cassina’s vast collection, showcasing the company’s innovative approach towards design and technology, will make for a truly special customer experience. Our new store will be a stimulating venue, welcoming both end-users and members of the architect and designer community,” they added.

The store’s interiors have been curated by architect and designer Patricia Urquiola, creative director of Cassina. They reflect the label’s philosophy, the ‘Cassina Perspective’, embodied in an eclectic collection in which cutting-edge products and various Modernist icons combine to create comprehensive, warm and inviting interiors. Inside the store, the sections dedicated to lounge, dining, bedroom and outdoor furniture showcase a variety of styles. The sections are separated and differentiated by architectural elements and metallic screens, while the wood panelling lends a sense of warmth to the interiors, heightened also by the colour palette adopted, consisting of grey, teal blue, terracotta, golden yellow and maroon, further enhancing the store’s visual language.

The store showcases products from Cassina’s I Maestri (masters) collection, with iconic furniture by Vico Magistretti, Gio Ponti, Gerrit T. Rietveld, Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand, alongside items created by renowned designers like Michael Anastassiades, Antonio Citterio, Rodolfo Dordoni, Gaetano Pesce, Tobia Scarpa and Patricia Urquiola.

The expertise developed by Cassina LAB, an initiative in collaboration with the POLI.design faculty of Milan’s Politecnico University, means that products are developed with a responsible design approach, using recycled materials and with an emphasis on well-being.

Besides home furniture, Cassina’s Los Angeles store sells a wide range of personalised solutions for the hospitality, retail and business sectors.

Beneath the central staircase leading to the upper floor, the new store is home to ‘Modular Imagination’, a line of matte black modular elements developed by Cassina in collaboration with the late US cult fashion designer Virgil Abloh.

Cassina was founded in 1927 in Meda, Italy, by Cesare and Umberto Cassina. The company has not yet published its 2022 financial results. In 2021, it recorded a revenue of €122.2 million (well up on its pre-pandemic 2019 results, when revenue was €103.3 million) and a net income of €9.2 million (net income was €6.9 million in 2019).
