Farfetch Beat's latest launch is Tekla Red sleepwear range

Online luxury fashion retailer Farfetch has launched the third edition of Farfetch Beat, its concept retail series that introduces “exclusive product experiences to an international audience”.

 
For Beat 003, the retailer has partnered with Tekla Fabrics to produce a limited bespoke sleepwear range called Tekla Red. It’s inspired by American choreographer Trisha Brown’s 1971 ‘Roof Piece’ that saw dancers performing across the roof-tops of New York’s SoHo, all dressed in “burning red”.
 
Each of the special edition sleepwear sets is embroidered with a commemorative message and includes a reproduction of an archival poster announcing the 1973 performances of ‘Roof Piece’. 

The 25 limited sets are available, priced at £300 with single sets starting from £110 and doubles from £180. All products in the collection are made from 100% organic cotton.
 
To coincide with the 7 September product launch, model and actress Lily McMenamy has reinterpreted the piece for TikTok with Movement Director Jaime Scott from the Trisha Brown Dance Company guiding McMenamy as she “reimagined the performance”.
 
The sleepwear is cut with a unisex, oversized fit, made from crisp, lightweight cotton. The roomy fit allows for freedom of movement, expressed by the dancers who will wear sleepwear sets through the performance. Accompanying bedding, "woven with a 200 thread count and lightly stonewashed for a crisp, soft finish", will act as a starting point, with McMenamy awakening from a red bed placed on a rooftop.

In addition to the bespoke collection, Tekla has produced a limited number of classic poplin sleepwear and percale bedding in a striking new Red colourway inspired by the original costumes of the 1971 performance. Included are long-sleeved and short-sleeved shirts, pants, shorts, duvet covers, pillow shams and sheets which are available on Farfetch.com and Teklafabrics.com.
