Estée Lauder appoints new SVP for Aveda North America and SVP for global retail

Published
Mar 10, 2018

NYC-based cosmetics manufacturer The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. announced the appointment of industry disruptors April K. Anslinger and Andrea Dorigo to key branding and retail roles in the group on Friday.

April K. Anslinger - Estée Lauder

Anslinger has joined the group as senior vice president, general manager for Aveda – North America, a role in which she will be responsible for optimizing Aveda’s growth potential in North American markets. She will oversee Aveda’s marketing, retail, and field sales and education in the region, leading an executive team to develop and implement the company’s North American go-to-market strategy. In addition, she will drive strategy for all of Aveda’s retail channels, which include spas and salons, experience centers and the brand’s e-commerce platform.

She will report directly to Chris Good, president, North America, with a matrix reporting line to Barbara De Laere, SVP, global general manager, Aveda.

Anslinger joins Estée Lauder from Schwan Food Company where she was chief growth officer. Prior to this, she served in a variety of leadership roles at Procter and Gamble, primarily in its hair care division, where she gained extensive experience in the sector, driving revenue growth, digital strategies and innovation at a number of P&G brands.

“April is an inspiring leader with an exceptional ability to build and grow brands and drive innovation,” stated Good in a release, “Her deep expertise in hair care and experience shaping winning go-to-market and retail channel strategies position her well to take on this important role for the Company and our North America business.”

Andrea Dorigo - Estée Lauder

Andrea Dorigo joins Estée Lauder as senior vice president, general manager for global retail. In this role, he will lead strategies for driving profitable growth, drawing on his innovative approach to retail to reinforce consumer coverage, optimize the company’s omnichannel model and foster creative thinking. His new role will also involve working closely with brands, regions and affiliates to guarantee retail operational efficiency.

He will report directly to Olivier Bottrie, global president for travel retail and retail development.

Dorigo’s most recent role was as CEO of Pirch, Inc., a retail disruptor in the home appliance category. Prior to this he was president of Luxottica-owned Oakley, Inc., responsible for developing the brand’s multichannel model, having already served as president of Brooks Brothers Group’s American division.

“Andrea’s deep experience managing complex global teams, his ability to drive innovative thinking and disruptive growth models, and his proven effectiveness at brand building and brand expansion ideally position him to lead our retail transformation towards New Retail at the global level,” commented Bottrie.

Estée Lauder’s products are sold in more than 150 countries and territories around the world under an extensive range of brand names including Aveda, Aramis, Clinique and Too Faced.

Anslinger joined the group effective February 20, 2018, while Dorigo took up his new position effective February 27, 2018.
