In parallel with Paris’ Women’s Fashion Week, which opened with the show by the French Fashion Institute’s most recent graduation class on Monday February 27, a number of trade shows and showrooms such as Tranoï, Première Classe, Woman and Sphère - among the French capital’s must-see events - are showcasing scores of emerging talents with their edgy creative approach. The following is an overview of the womenswear collections they will present to international buyers in the coming days.

The Sphère showroom is spotlighting promising contemporary designers like Switzerland’s Kevin Germanier and his glam beaded looks - Sphère

Sphère showcases six contemporary gems

Emerging labels showroom Sphère will be back at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris on March 1-7, and will present six young brands that have either been invited on the official show calendar or are prize winners. The initiative - organised by the French Fashion and Haute Couture Federation and supported by L'Oréal and DEFI - will showcase some of the most promising young designers on the world stage, such as Alphonse Maitrepierre from Paris, Vincent Garnier Pressiat from Besançon, Franco-Israeli designer Benjamin Benmoyal, Florentina Leitner from Austria, Kevin Germanier from Switzerland, and South African prodigy Thebe Magugu.

Sphère Showroom: from Wednesday March 1 to Tuesday March 7 2023
Venue: Palais de Tokyo,
13 avenue du Président Wilson, Paris

Tranoï fêtes international designers

The womenswear edition of the Tranoï show, scheduled on March 2-5 at Palais Brongniart (Palais de la Bourse) in Paris, will prominently feature international designers and labels, which will account for nearly 80% of the 170 exhibitors, coming from countries as diverse as Portugal, China, Japan and Ivory Coast, among others. On show at Tranoï, the androgynous silhouettes inspired by the VaTsonga roots of South African designer Rich Mnisi; Ascendia’s contemporary, sophisticated Peruvian fashion; and the exceptional ‘Mécanique de la Pétasse’ jewellery collection by French designer Lola Mossino, winner of the Hermès Prize for fashion accessories at the Hyères International Festival.

Tranoï show: from Thursday March 2 to Sunday March 5 2023
Venue: Palais Brongniart, 16 place de la Bourse, Paris

Première Classe celebrates emerging talent

Parisian fashion accessories show Première Classe will be held at the Jardin des Tuileries from March 3 to 6 and will host 400 exhibitors, including more than 50 emerging labels founded less than three years ago and showcasing their jewellery, leather goods and footwear collections. Among the new names at the event: French designer Victor Weinsanto with his burlesque looks inspired by the night clubbing scene and drag-queen outfits, Chinese fine jewellery designer Ann Ong, and Brazilian label Room with its oversize quilted sandals.

Première Classe show: Friday March 3 to Monday March 6 2023
Venue: Jardin des Tuileries, Paris

Woman

The Woman trade show - the womenswear counterpart to menswear show Man - will feature a limited, directional selection of international labels in showroom format in Paris on March 3-5, presenting to international buyers the Fall/Winter 2023-24 looks and collections by labels like Anthology Paris with its sophisticated leather shoes, Swedish brand Maska with its delicate cashmere knitwear, and Barcelona brand The Tiny Big Sister, keen on cotton items with exuberant prints.
