Dunhill ceases fragrance partnership with Inter Parfums

UK heritage brand Dunhill will not be renewing its fragrance licensing agreement with Inter Parfums from 2023, the global perfume maker announced on Thursday.

The British luxury company's fragrance license will expire on September 30, 2023 and will not be renewed, with neither company providing a reason as to why the partnership would not continue.

During the balance of the license, Inter Parfums said it will continue to produce and sell Dunhill fragrances under the same business conditions as in the past.

Once the license expires, Inter Parfums will sell-off its remaining Dunhill fragrance inventory for a limited time "as is common in our industry," the New York-based company said in a press release.

“I am very proud of the Dunhill fragrance business we built over the past decade. We took over the Dunhill fragrance license in April 2013 and, in the intervening years, brought to market several fragrance pillars for the brand, including the Icon and Signature collections," said Jean Madar, chairman and CEO of Inter Parfums.

"We intend to continue to support the Dunhill brand and our distributors during the transition period. Looking forward, we are focused on growing our larger brands, reinvigorating the fragrance businesses of our newly licensed brands, and expanding our brand portfolio.”

Inter Parfums reported a strong 2021 with a 23% sales rise and surging earnings compared to 2019, on the back of stellar sales of its Guess, Montblanc, Jimmy Choo and Coach fragrances, which reached sales of more than $100 million, respectively.
