Dune signs up to Klarna instalment pay system

Published

Dune London has partnered with Klarna to launch a Pay Later option in five European markets, including Germany, the Netherlands and the UK.

Customers in Austria and Switzerland can also use the new payment service provided by Klarna.

In addition to Pay Later, Dune said the partnership will give customers the option to spread the cost of their purchase over several instalments.

A raft of fashion brands have introduced similar schemes over the last year in a bid to lure young shoppers with their flexibility. Companies including H&M, Asos, Abercrombie & Fitch and Nike have all integrated one or several of Klarna’s services, while the likes of Boohoo, Marks & Spencer and JD Sports have teamed up with its rival Clearpay.

Elaine Smith, head of digital product at Dune London, explained: “It is our aim to provide the best possible shopping experience across all of our customer facing channels and we feel that the addition of Klarna’s payment options will support this objective, not just in the UK, but in our markets across Europe. We want our customers to be able to shop and pay however, wherever and whenever they want.”

With a valuation of $5.5 billion, Klarna is the most highly valued private fintech firm in Europe. According to the company, over 7 million customers have used its services in the UK, with a new Klarna order being made every 1.3 seconds. In the second half of 2019, an average of 88,000 new UK customers a week chose its Pay Later services at checkout.
