Dotte grows Resale Collective platform for kidswear circularity

Published
Mar 30, 2022

In a timely growth of sustainable alliances, circular peer-to-peer kidswear marketplace Dotte has added eight more leading kidswear brands to its Resale Collective.

Dotte

The announcement comes as its research reveals an estimated 183.6 million items of children’s clothing end up in landfill annually so Dotte “aims to reduce the impact of fast fashion on the environment as it grows”.

The additional brands include Claude & Co, The Bright Company and Little Loves Cornwall. They join Dinki Human, The QT, Marmalade Sky, Cub & Pudding, Raising Ravers plus well-known brands Zig and Star, Another Fox, RaspberryPlum, Indikidual, Kiso and Mère Soeur.

The initiative – which launched last summer with leading brands such as Tobias and the Bear and Turtledove London – provides kidswear brands with a service to reduce their overall impact on the planet “complete with a readymade community of eager resellers”.

The process sees customers selling an item from a Resale Collective partner’s brand on the Dotte platform with the seller gaining money-off that particular brand’s new stock as a 'thank you' for keeping their garments in circulation. In turn, this reduces waste and minimises the impact of fast fashion by extending the lifecycle of the brand’s garments.

Samantha Valentine, co-founder of Dotte, said: “We’ve known about the environmental damage fast fashion causes for years, but for many parents, it can be difficult to find a suitable solution. The Resale Collective was launched to reduce the work for busy parents and reward them for helping to keep clothing in circulation for longer.

Since its launch, Dotte claims to have has become the fastest-growing peer-to-peer marketplace dedicated to kids’ fashion, with thousands of parents in its community and more than 25,000 pre-loved items of clothing hosted on its platform.
