Coty makes two new board appointments

Published

Global beauty conglomerate Coty Inc. announced on Wednesday that it has added Jimmy Choo Group Limited CEO Pierre Denis and Russel Reynolds Associates’ Beatrice Ballini to its board of directors.

Coty's brand portfolio includes Covergirl, Clairol, Rimmel, Max Factor and Bourjois - Instagram: @covergirl

Denis has led Jimmy Choo Group since 2012, having previously served as managing director of John Galliano for four years, during which time he developed the John Galliano and Contemporary Galliano lines, and expanded the brand’s licensing business.

He also has extensive experience in the cosmetics and perfume sector, having begun his career at fragrance company Jean Patou. In 1992, he joined the perfumes and cosmetics division of LVMH, becoming the managing director for Parfums Christian Dior in the Asia-Pacific region in 1999 and adding Christian Dior Couture to his responsibilities in 2003.

The executive went on to serve as managing director of Christian Dior Couture in Europe, the Middle East and India from 2006 to 2008.

Ballini is currently a senior member of the Retail Practice at global leadership advisory and search firm Russel Reynolds Associates, leading the company’s family business services. She is also a steering committee member of the board and CEO advisory group at the firm.

She has previous experience serving as the CEO of a prestigious Milan-based menswear manufacturer, and has also worked at Goldman Sachs & Co and Bain & Co.

“We are very excited to add the deep industry expertise and independent perspectives of Pierre and Beatrice to the company’s board as Coty moves forward with executing its turnaround plan,” explained Peter Horf, Coty’s chairman of the board, in a release.

First announced in July, Coty’s multi-year plan seeks to turn around the fortunes of the company, which has suffered from falling sales in its consumer beauty unit, by reducing organizational layers and reorganizing operations around regional units, among other initiatives.
