Condé Nast pushes luxury conference back three months to end July

The next Condé Nast Luxury Conference, scheduled for April, has been pushed back three months to end July, the latest postponement in fashion due to coronavirus.

“This was a difficult decision. But we believe that rescheduling is the responsible and sensible thing to do. We look forward to being in scenic Vienna, at the height of summer, to host the 2020 edition,” said Vogue International Editor Suzy Menkes.

So essential is Menkes to the conference, as the host and key animator, that the conference is often referred to as simply 'Suzy’s Conference.'

Condé Nast, owners of Vogue, GQ, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Glamour among other titles, is the largest producer of quality lifestyle magazines in the world.

Its next conference, entitled Gateways to Luxury, will now take place between Wednesday, July 29 and Thursday July 30. It had been scheduled for April 29-30. However, its planned location will not change – Hofburg Palace in Vienna. The former Imperial residence of the Hapsburg dynasty, the Hofburg Palace is also where Hitler declared from a balcony the Anschluss of Austria in March 1938.

Among the speakers listed on the conference’s website are Luke & Lucie Meier, designers of Jil Sander; Alessandro Sartori, artistic director of Zegna; Simon Holloway of Agnona; Andreas Kronthaler, the Austrian-born husband and design partner of Vivienne Westwood; Manfred Thierry Mugler; Guram Gvasalia of Vetements; James Ferragamo; Riccardo Sciutto of Sergio Rossi; and Angelica Cheung and Christiane Arp, editors in chief of Vogue China and Germany, respectively.
