Columbia Sportswear names Peter Ruppe as VP of footwear

Columbia Sportswear Company has named Peter Ruppe as vice president of footwear for the Columbia Brand.

In his new role, Ruppe will report to Columbia Brand President Joe Boyle, and will lead the evolution of the sportswear label's footwear category. 

Prior to joining Columbia, Ruppe served as senior vice president of footwear for Under Armour. In addition, he previously spent over two decades in multiple senior executive roles at Nike, where he led the Nike Basketball and Jordan Brand business, oversaw product creation, advertising campaigns and athlete relationships, and served as the athleticwear company's vice president and general manager of global equipment.  

Based in Portland, Oregon, Columbia offers a range of outdoor apparel, footwear, accessories and equipment. Columbia Sportswear Company's brand portfolio includes brands like Mountain Hardwear, Sorel, and Prana, as well as its namesake brand Columbia, and sells in approximately 90 countries.

Ruppe's nomination follows the Columbia's appointment of John Soh as vice president and general manager of the company's China division in November.
