Childrenswear show Pitti Bimbo back in physical format in January with 170 exhibitors

On January 11-13, the Fortezza da Basso venue in Florence will once again host simultaneously two of the most prominent Italian trade events, both world leaders in their sectors: Pitti Uomo and Pitti Bimbo. Their organisers recently unveiled the new features for the January edition of the shows, both eagerly awaited by industry professionals who, as the CEO of Pitti Immagine Raffaello Napoleone said, “are keen to get together again to enjoy an extremely useful opportunity to share experiences as well as do business.”

Childrenswear event Pitti Bimbo will offer an extensive panorama of this highly diverse industry, with about 170 leading brands exhibiting, of which 81 (48% of the total) will be coming from outside Italy. Among them, established and niche brands alike, providing a comprehensive international overview of children's products, from essentials to sportswear, from directional fashion to everyday wear, from footwear to accessories. In parallel, several adult fashion labels will be presenting their childrenswear lines in their own stands at Pitti Uomo. Pitti Bimbo’s exhibition area has been extended to include multiple pavilions, and the layout is different from the June session. The 100% Bambino section - staged at the Sala delle Nazioni, Sala della Ronda and Rondino - will showcase leading and long-established children’s labels, offering a wide range of wardrobe choices for all ages, from babies to teenagers: luxury and tailored items, sportswear and urban wear. The Arena Strozzi will again host Kids Lab, the Pitti Bimbo section dedicated to avant-garde childrenswear and children's lifestyle products, showcasing young, pioneering brands distinctive for their constant search for innovation, their materials and style.

“Pitti Bimbo too is ready to contribute to the renewed growth of Italian fashion and international trade. We are committed to staging the show in complete safety, with the protocols and attention to detail that were key for welcoming visitors in summer,” said Agostino Poletto, managing director of Pitti Immagine. “Once again, we will hold Pitti Bimbo in conjunction with Pitti Uomo, as we wait for the international situation and global markets to settle, conscious that, at this moment in time, enabling the two events to be connected - and allowing buyers active in both segments to make only one trip to Florence - is an important service to the market. Companies are responding vigorously, they are not hiding their difficulties but at the same time they convey a great desire to be able to showcase their best assets. Both our visitor and exhibitor numbers will be up compared to the last edition, thanks to targeted promotional initiatives to attract major international retailers as well as the new, emerging e-tailers that are meeting with significant market success.”

Among the initiatives for this edition of Pitti Bimbo, one will feature Nicoletta Costa, a renowned writer and illustrator of children's books and animation films. She will bring to Fortezza da Basso two of her best-loved characters, Nina and Olga, the stars of a TV series on Italy’s national broadcaster RAI. Costa will present a selection of items she has designed for the newly created Illustrabimbi collection, whose fabrics feature fairy tale-inspired motifs. She will also make an appearance at Todo Modo Dilà, a Florentine children's bookshop with a special atmosphere, where she will be signing copies of the first titles inspired by the adventures of Nina and Olga, published by Mondadori-Libri per Ragazzi.

Sustainable fashion label Ecoalf will showcase at the Padiglione della Ghiaia its very first childrenswear line. Designer Javier Goyeneche founded Ecoalf in 2009, right after the birth of his two sons Alfredo and Alvaro, driven by the firm belief that natural resources must be used responsibly in order to safeguard the next generations’ future. Ecoalf’s children’s collection includes jackets and gilets made from recycled plastic bottles, sweatshirts and t-shirts made with recycled cotton, and recycled nylon sneakers. Ecoalf will also outfit the entire Pitti staff.

From December 7, Pitti Bimbo will be online on the Pitti Connect website and its related social media platforms, publishing brand-specific insights, style tips and constant updates throughout the winter, following the course of the brands’ commercial campaigns.
