Burberry unveils latest campaign, hosts Anne Imhof event

Published
Oct 20, 2021

Its new CEO wasn’t the only news Burberry had this week with the luxury brand having just unveiled its latest campaign. Called Burberry Open Spaces, it’s all about freedom “to be creative, to dream, to be anything or anyone”, creative chief Riccardo Tisci said.

It’s a “journey through the freedom of imagination. When we dare to dream, the possibilities are infinite – we discover new realities, we break boundaries and we find the freedom to go beyond limitations”.

Like many campaigns at the moment, it’s clearly targeting consumers who are behaving and shopping differently than they did this time last year and this time two years ago “as the world opens up again”.

The campaign features “four bold individuals who have the power to explore and discover, as they take us on a journey set amongst the natural beauty of the British countryside. A spirit of duality – blurring the lines between reality and fantasy”.

The film sees them bonding weightlessly through fields, “defying gravity as they take flight – resisting convention. New perspectives are explored as they jump and twist through towering forests. As they float across a lake, they challenge the obstacles of the elements and the natural world”.

The still imagery, shot by Ewen Spencer, continues this celebration of the outdoors.

The product focus as the weather gets cooler is outerwear, which is here styled by Ana Steiner. The campaign pieces are modelled by Xiaoyi Liu, Charlotte Samaroo, Joshua Smith and Ben Loader.

SPECIAL EVENT

Meanwhile, Burberry had more news with Riccardo Tisci having hosted an event on Tuesday evening to celebrate the closing of Anne Imhof’s exhibition ‘Natures Mortes’ at Palais De Tokyo in Paris, as part of FIAC art fair ‘parcours privés’ calendar.

Staged at the YOYO club in the venue, the event featured live DJ sets and plenty of cool guests. They included Imhof plus Aurelie Dupont, Aweng Ade-Chuol, Babeth Djian, Candice Swanepoel, Carine Roitfeld, Clara3000, Edem Dossou, Eliza Douglas, Emma Lavigne, Irina Shayk, Isabelle Huppert, Jean-Jacques Ndjoli, Kayako Higuchi, Mahmood, Nyasha Matonhodze, Tyler André, Vittoria Matarrese and others.

An art performance created by Imhof and Douglas with artists wearing items by Burberry, took place ahead of the event, where ‘Natures Mortes’ will close on 24 October.

The company said it’s all a celebration of the “continuous collaborative relationship between Riccardo Tisci and Anne Imhof which commenced with the Burberry Spring/Summer 2021 show”.
