Bosideng unveils capsule collection trio with Coppens, Capasa and Tron

Published
Oct 29, 2018

China-based luxury outerwear specialist Bosideng has unveiled three collaborative capsule collections with a trio of international fashion designers.

Bosideng unveiled the collections in Beijing

The company said that its offer with ex-Ralph Lauren design director Tim Coppens, former Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton designer Antonin Tron, and Yohji Yamamoto collaborator Ennio Capasa is intended “to present the prefect marriage of international top-notch fashion aesthetics and outstanding down apparel expertise.”

The collections were unveiled in Beijing at the weekend and will officially roll out on November 5.

Multi-award-winner Coppens, who trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, is currently design director at Under Armour, but has also held the same role at Ralph Lauren, as well as being creative director at Karl Lagerfeld before founding his own fashion label.

The Bosideng x Tim Coppens collection fuses “European fashion with New York styles using different materials in classic premium fall/winter colour palettes with tailoring to provide consumers with an upscale clothing experience that is both modern and comfortable,” we’re told.

Meanwhile French designer Antonin Tron has held a number of key roles at Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga and Givenchy and Bosideng said that experience has given him “the ability to deliver fascinating showpieces, to excel in commercial collections, and to establish an impactful identity visually.”

He’s also a trekking enthusiast and his collection has been infused with that interest, drawing inspiration from his experience of scaling the Himalayas and other outdoor activities. It features “French tailoring [with] down-filled puffer jackets, parkas, zipped jackets and sportswear.”

And Ennio Capasa has for several decades been focused on driving menswear forwards, both in his work with Yohji Yamamoto and at the brand he founded, Costume National.

For his collection, he’s used a bold colour palette including black, white, red and azure with printed Scandinavian natural scenery and animal patterns to convey "wild nature".

Bosideng has had a mixed experience in recent years and closed a number of stores, exiting the UK market in 2017. But it still operates in 72 countries including the US, France and Italy.
