Amélie Pichard launches a "vegan" line with Pamela Anderson

Published

A unique partnership that is sure to create a buzz. This December, Amélie Pichard, a French designer of shoes and accessories, will be launching a 100£ vegan line in collaboration with Pamela Anderson.

The story of this collection started a year ago, with the launch of the Amélie Pichard x Gerrett Leigh sunglasses. To celebrate the event, the designer threw a Malibu-themed party and took a photo with a cardboard cut-out of her idol, Pamela Anderson.

The selfie posted on Pichard's Instagram account, packed with photos of the actress, was noticed by a friend and associate of Pamela Anderson. Coincidentally, the fervent animal rights supporter and icon of the 90s, was looking to launch a "vegan" shoewear line. A project that had already crossed Amélie Pichard's mind.

A few months later the two met and hit it off right away. The project was launched, funded by the actress.

The result is a line of 7 different shoes in black, white, metallic red and even denim. Shoes inspired by Saint-Tropez, made out of Alcantara, nylon and plexiglass and with a retail price ranging from 450 to 750 euros. "We often think that shoes not made out of leather should be less expensive, but to offer a sturdy alternative we use rather expensive technical materials," said Amélie Pichard. The collection also includes a bag that will be sold in limited edition.

In terms of distribution, the Amélie Pichard x Pamela Anderson collection will hit shelves on 10 December at Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles, and then in a selection of stores in Paris, including Colette, in January. Finally, at the end of January the Tom Greyhound store in the French capital's Marais district will host a shop-in-shop entirely dedicated to the line. Part of the proceeds from the collection will go towards the Pamela Anderson Foundation, which supports human, animal and environmental rights. David Lachapelle will be the photographer behind the campaign.

Amélie Pichard sees this line as a veritable second line for her eponymous brand. Moreover, the designer is looking for investors to grow her brand and open her first store, a store she imagines as a place to meet up "where you can spend the whole day."
