Alexander McQueen joins "London Collections: Men"

Published

The next edition of "London Collections: Men," the London men's Fashion Week, will welcome Alexander McQueen to its program for the first time. The brand belonging to the PPR group, launched in 2004 by the late British designer, responded to the call of the British Fashion Council and its very strong desire to become a center stage of men's fashion. The timing seems particularly good for the Alexander McQueen brand, whose men's collections are now designed by Sarah Burton and designer Harley Hughes.

Alexander McQueen Fall-Winter 2012-2013

Jonathan Akeroyd, CEO of the house, welcomes the transition to London, "the home of Alexander McQueen," where he says the brand will have its "first dedicated menswear store opening...this autumn." Located on Savile Row, the future flagship just for men will offer a made-to-measure service in collaboration with Huntsman, the prestigious tailor who has already supplied the McQueen recent men's collections with many made-in-England jackets (photo above).

Since the launching of its own men's week last season, London seems to be mobilizing men's brands that show their collections elsewhere. Tom Ford has joined the program for next January with his men's line, normally presented in a showroom in Milan. The British Fashion Council launched its most recent offensive last summer regarding the choice of dates for "LC: M" (London Collection Men). The British show will now overlap the next Pitti Uomo, much to the disappointment of the organizers of this men's fair.
