A/X Armani Exchange: departure of Patrick Robinson

Published
Jun 26, 2014

Hired in March 2013 to lead product development and design for Armani’s youthful line A/X Armani Exchange, Patrick Robinson is no longer with the company - for the past several weeks now.

On Monday, The New York Post reported on the story, having received confirmation from the Italian company. The latter had announced in May that it was taking a 100% stake in A/X Armani Exchange, founded in 1991 and previously 50% controlled by a group belonging to the Como Holding, owned by the Singaporean tycoon Ong Beng Seng.

Robinson made a name for himself as creative director at Gap between 2007 and 2011, before leaving the American company and returning to Armani’s “fast" line, mainly distributed in the United States and Asia.

His departure from A/X Armani Exchange is clouded in controversy. The New York jewelry brand David Yurman accused A/X Armani Exchange of copying the style of its bracelets in his latest collection. The information is “unrelated to the departure of Patrick Robinson," said a representative of A/X Armani Exchange to the newspaper.
