'Atlas Garden,' a new olfactory ode to Morocco by YSL

A major part of Yves Saint Laurent's world, Morocco was not only a retreat for the legendary designer, but also an inexhaustible source of inspiration for his creations.

A Moroccan Eden, symbolizing light, vibrant colors and unique scents, has now become the point of departure for the luxury brand's latest fragrance, "Atlas Garden."

YSL

Back in 1966, Yves Saint Laurent first discovered and immediately fell in love with Marrakesh. Some years later in 1980, the legendary designer confirmed his affection for the red city when he bought a villa and gardens created by Jacques Majorelle in the 1930s. A veritable refuge for Yves Saint Laurent, the Villa Oasis also became a major source of inspiration for his work as a designer.

With this latest launch, YSL Beauty also aims to confirm its ties with the Ourika Valley in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, where a women's collective cultivate many of the ingredients that the luxury brand uses in its skincare and makeup essentials. Now these sun-soaked natural treasures have also given birth to a perfume, "Atlas Garden," which is the latest to join YSL's "Le Vestiaire des Parfums" collection.

Created by Amandine Marie, the fragrance turns a spotlight on two facets of orange blossom: at its heart, there is a feisty neroli, which is mingled with an orange blossom absolute with more sensual notes. The harmony of this combination sets the scene for notes of honeyed Deglet Nour date, almonds, tonka bean absolute, and ambrox.

Amandine Marie explained that she wanted to recreate a dream-like feel of wandering through a palm grove with spectacular views on the landscapes of the Atlas Mountains, orange trees in bloom and the bounty of fresh and flavorful dates, all sensual pleasures offered by a stroll in the Moroccan sunshine.

"Atlas Garden" is available from certain department stores and perfume shops, and also online from www.yslbeauty.com. It is priced at US$175 for 75 ml.
