Vetements opens Paris pop-up store, drops repeat DHL collection

Vetements has set the French capital abuzz, opening a pop-up store and launching a capsule collection with DHL. The high-end streetwear label by Demna Gvasalia is again the talk of the town, even though it is not showing at the current Paris Fashion Week, having presented its latest collection last January.

As usual, there was little in the way of advertising. Only a few pics on the label's Instagram account, heralding the opening of a temporary shop within the Montaigne Market multibrand store, recently inaugurated at 18 avenue Matignon, where it relocated from its long-established premises at 57 avenue Montaigne. The latter will be soon taken over by Balenciaga, whose creative director is none other than Demna Gvasalia.

The store's interiors have a vintage feel, with antique Persian rugs, old wardrobes, retro wallpaper and rather tatty armchairs. Perhaps the model for a future Vetements boutique? We shall see. Vetements' pop-up shop will be open until 7th April, showcasing a selection of clothes and accessories, including the famous patent leather booties with cigarette lighter heels.

Vetements has also recently dropped a capsule collection with DHL, distributed exclusively on Mr Porter, Net-A-Porter's menswear website. It consists of three items: a t-shirt in the express delivery company's signature yellow and red colours, a yellow long-sleeved polo with red logo and another polo with short black sleeves, one of which is covered with bar codes tracing the delivery of a package to Zurich, where the Georgian designer's studio is based since 2017.

The first yellow Vetements t-shirt sporting the DHL logo was an unprecedented hit when the label introduced it in October 2015, opening its Spring/Summer 2016 catwalk show with it. Priced at €200, it was soon sold out. Demna Gvasalia is going for it again, at the vastly increased price of $660 (€540).
