Palace links with Adidas for Wimbledon collection

Published
Jun 27, 2018

London-based skate label Palace has become a little more traditional than usual and is teaming up with sports giant Adidas for a series of tennis whites in celebration of Wimbledon fortnight. The line launches next week.

Adidas/Palace Skateboards

The company is best known for its skateboards, brightly coloured men’s shell suits and logo-adorned tees, but for its very first collection that also includes womenswear, it’s offering up tennis dresses too. We still get the T-shirts though and logos remain big news for this collaboration, albeit smaller than usual.

Priced from £12 up to £224, the technical performance-meets-fashion pieces have the Adidas and Palace logos in close proximity to each other and include accessories such as visors, bucket hats, socks wristbands, and tennis balls too, as well as clothing. The clothing itself include a terry tracksuit that has detachable sleeves, shorts, polo shirts and tank tops.

There’s a distinctly retro vibe, with the items referencing the tennis wear of the 1970s and 80s, such as tennis skirts of the kind we don’t see very often in the professional game these days.

The launch comes with a campaign shot by Alasdair McLellanand that stars Blondey McCoy, Rory Milanes and Lucien Clarke (who are all Palace skaters) plus tennis champs Garbiñe Muguruza and Sascha Zverev.

The link-up follows an earlier Adidas collaboration around the Fifa World Cup and it looks like there could be more hook-ups between the two to come as they’re “exploring new ways of collaborating through sport,” Adidas said this week.
