Nordstrom re-opens San Juan store

Published
Nov 9, 2018

After announcing plans to relaunch the location in September, Nordstrom's store inside Puerto Rico's Mall of San Juan has officially re-opened today, ahead of the holiday shopping season.

The two-story, 138,000-square-foot store offers customers three shoe departments, cosmetics and accessories departments, and a range of women's, men's and children's apparel. Featured brands include Good American, Tory Burch, Alice + Olivia, Frame, Ted Baker London, Vince Camuto, Chanel and more.

The store will allow shoppers to buy items online for in-store pick-up, and offer other special services like curbside pick-up, on-site alterations and tailoring, access to beauty stylists, in-store Anastasia Beverly Hills brow services and more.

The San Juan flagship has now hired 130 employees in sales and support positions, including 40 employees who were rehired or transferred back to the San Juan flagship after temporarily re-locating to the United States due to severe damage from Hurricane Maria.

The store first opened in 2015, and closed in 2017 following the environmental disaster. The mall's second anchor store, Saks Fifth Avenue, has yet to re-open.

The Mall of San Juan houses over 100 brands and retailers, dozens of which closed for repair following Hurricanes Maria and Irma. According to estimates made by the Puerto Rico Retail Association, the island territory lost more than $28 billion in sales due to weather damage.
