New pop-ups added to Broadgate ahead of retail space expansion

Published
May 12, 2017

The mixed use Broadgate centre in central London is aiming to boost footfall ahead of the Crossrail opening late next year with an increase to its dining offer, something analysts say is crucial for attracting online-focused shoppers into physical stores and to get people into the area outside of regular office hours.

British land

Landlord British Land is hosting five independent pop-up street food operators in shipping containers in Finsbury Avenue as it works to attract more visitors to the general area and to the Broadgate centre that houses stores for Hobbs, Karen Millen, Reiss, Timberland, Links of London and Space NK Apothecary.

The pop-ups will stay open through next year while the property giant works on the addition of major new retail space in the area.

They include Wolf Italian food, sustainable crab burger specialist Claw Food and poached eggs specialist Yolk. The other two are yet to be confirmed.

British Land’s Alice Keown, said the development should “help further establish the campus as an emerging weekend and evening destination.”

Broadgate, adjacent to Liverpool Street Station in London, is a good example of the newer breed of lifestyle developments that mixes stores with dining and health clubs and enjoys around 65m a year. That number is likely to increase when the Crossrail project completes next year.
