Eyewear giant Marcolin Group has appointed Davide Rettore as the new North America CEO of Marcolin USA Eyewear Corp. He will oversee business in the US and Canada which is 45% of Marcolin's global sales.

Rettore will be tasked with developing both ophthalmic eyewear and sunglasses. Marcolin expects to leverage the company's existing infrastructure for design and manufacturing.

Massimo Renon, Marcolin Group's Worldwide Commercial General Manager, pointed to Rettore's "experience and unique profile" to help grow the business.

Rettore got his start in fashion marketing for Benetton in 2003. He spent eight years there in media, licensing and brand management. He first joined Marcolin in 2011 as brand manager for Roberto Cavalli and Just Cavalli Eyewear, and became group brand manager at Marcolin after that.

In 2014 he left Marcolin to become a global brand manager for Kering Eyewear in Milan. He was promoted to global brand director of Kering in January of this year.

Giovanni Zoppas, CEO Marcolin Group, said the company all welcomes Rettore back and called him a great "value added" to an already-strong North America team.

Marcolin's brands include Tom Ford, Balenciaga, Emilio Pucci, Kenneth Cole, Guess, Timberland, Skechers and Moncler. The company sold 14 million pairs of glasses in 2016.
