Debenhams to support GFW, chance to meet Richard Quinn

British department store Debenhams is partnering with Graduate Fashion Week for the upcoming edition of the showcase, taking place on 3-6 June at the Old Truman Brewery in London.

Richard Quinn, who recently announced a collaboration with Debenhams will attend the event to give advice to graduate students

Debenhams will sponsor the Menswear Award, which will be judged by a panel of senior members of the Debenhams team including Steven Cook, managing director of fashion and home; and Julien Fuller, head of menswear design. GQ contributor and influencer Jim Chapman will also sit on the panel.

The winner of the Debenhams Menswear Award will receive a £5,000 prize and a further £1,000 will go to the winning graduate’s university.

Martyn Roberts, managing and creative director of Graduate Fashion Week, said: “They offer invaluable advice and opportunities to our graduates and an early career-changing top prize to the winner of this prestigious award.”

In addition to sponsoring an award, Debenhams will have a stand onsite holding events and masterclasses. Creatives on the Designers@Debenhams roster, including Richard Quinn, who received the inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award in February and has recently announced a collaboration with the chain, will be spending time on the retailer’s stand.

Debenhams managing director of fashion and home, Steven Cook, said: “We understand the importance of nurturing new talent and providing them opportunities and advice. The Menswear Award is a great vehicle to provide a graduate with an immediate opportunity within a mass market retailer.”
