Crockett & Jones turns 130

Published
Sep 15, 2009

Crockett & Jones is celebrating its 130th anniversary. The label’s formidable story began in 1879 in Northampton, in the English midlands to the north-west of London, under the direction of Sir James Crockett and Charles Jones.

The house has remained a family affair and became noted as a producer of exceptional shoes. This is a result of technical know-how combined with attention to beautiful leatherwork, applied to pair after pair. “Each shoe takes 8 weeks to manufacture and no less than two hundred manual processes,” stated the British group, which is constantly updating its range.

For its 130th anniversary, Crockett & Jones is getting down to the task of re-releasing models originally from 1940-1950. Six pairs will be reworked, including the Bangor model, a Derby shoe in smooth calfskin, the Jura, an ankle-boot, and the Lewis, which features a zip on one of its rustic leather sides (each model will sell at somewhere between €410 and €490). The timeless Richelieu design should not be forgotten either, with its choice in toe styles it is made of double-tone calfskin and will be available in black or dark brown for around €500.
