Carven reportedly considering Serge Ruffieux as artistic director

Fashion's rumor mill is churning again. After the buzz about whether Chloé is changing artistic directors, French label Carven is now in the spotlight, and the name of Swiss designer Serge Ruffieux is being floated as the house's next artistic director.

The speculation was reported this morning in WWD. Ruffieux achieved renown this past year when he and Luci Meier were tapped to lead Dior's haute couture and women's ready-to-wear following Raf Simons' departure. He held the post for the luxury label between October 2015 and July 2016 when Maria Grazia Chiuri took over. Prior to Dior, Ruffieux's resume included the likes of Gérard Darel, Sonia Rykiel et Moschino.

Contacted by Fashion Network, Carven declined to comment on the report, but did say that it "was actively working on the nomination of a new artistic director, to be announced very soon."

Carven is undergoing a transition following its acquisition by the Bluebell Group last May, which is also the label's partner and distributor in China. Last October, the mid-range luxury label parted ways with its women's wear design team, Alexis Martial and Adrien Caillaudaud, and put its men's line on hold in July.
